Local ties in the NHL Draft

The NHL Draft rolled into day number two, and several prospects with local connections were drafted.  Two future UNO Mavericks, Ryan Jones and Dean Stewart, were selected in the fourth and seventh rounds respectively.  Jones played for the USHL team in Lincoln this past season and was drafted by Pittsburgh.  Stewart was taken by Arizona.  Both players are incoming freshman defenseman.

The Omaha Lancers also had a couple players selected.  The Nashville Predators selected Patrick Harper with the 138th overall pick in the 5th round., and the Columbus Blue Jackets picked Peter Thome in the sixth round.
