In his first season with Illinois baseball, former Papillion-La Vista Monarch standout Grant Van Scoy is back home to take part in the Big Ten baseball tournament with the Illini.
After spending the previous two years at Southeast Community College, Van Scoy joined Illinois in 2018 and started 46 games for the Fighting Illini at third base.
In his first season in Champaign, the former Papio player recorded a .241 batting averaged and added 21 RBIs. Van Scoy also held a .938 fielding percentage at the hot corner for Illinois.
Van Scoy and the Illini open play in the Big Ten tournament Wednesday night at 9 p.m. against Indiana at TD Ameritrade Park.
