Nebraska boys state basketball: No. 4 Bennington moves past No. 5 Aurora in Class B quarterfinals

No. 4 Bennington moved past No. 5 Aurora in the Class B quarterfinals Thursday morning. The Badgers advance to the semifinals after a 55-45 win over the Huskies.

Bennington held a consistent lead throughout the first quarter taking a 13-10 advantage into the 2nd. A basket by Aurora's Jayden Herzberg tied up the game 16-16 in the second quarter. The Huskies took their first lead just before half with a field goal from Baylor Scheierman. Scheierman's basket gave Aurora a 27-26 lead at the break.

After three lead changes and five ties in the third quarter, Aurora and Bennington were tied 37-37 heading into the final eight minutes. Bennington started the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run to take a quick 44-37 lead. With under two minutes to play the Badgers took its largest lead of the game, 50-39. Bennington continued to hold a steady with a 10 point win sending them to the Class B semifinals Friday afternoon. 

No. 4 Bennington will face the winner of No. 1 York in the Class B semifinals. The semifinals matchup is set for 2 p.m. Friday, March 9th at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
