No. 7 Elkhorn South pulled off an overtime win to upset over No. 2 Seward in the Class B Quarterfinals Thursday morning. The Storm won 36-35 with the winning free throws made by senior Katherine Emsick.
Elkhorn South held the lead through the first three quarters until Seward went on a 13-0 run to take a 30-26 lead in the fourth quarter. A basket from Storms' Molly Sindelar tied the game at 30-30 with 1:20 remaining in the game.
The game was sent into overtime tied up at 30-30. With under a minute to play the teams were tied 32-32. A basket from Elkhorn South's Rylee Gray gave the Storm a 34-33 lead with seconds on the clock. With 5.3 seconds to play Seward led 35-34 but fouled Storms' Katherine Emsick, sending her to line. Emsick made both of her free throws to give Elkhorn South a 36-35 win.
No. 7 Elkhorn South heads to the Semifinals for a rival game against No. 3 Elkhorn. The Semifinals will be played at Pinnacle Bank Arena Friday, March 2nd at 2 p.m.
