OSI Game Night: Grand Island vs. Omaha North

Posted

Top-ranked Omaha North proves why they're the Number 1 team in the state in our OSI Game of the Week, looking dominant again in a huge win over Grand Island, 56-21.  The Vikings remain undefeated at 5-0 at the midway point of the season.

"I'm extremely happy with the kids," said Larry Martin, Omaha North head coach.  "Our coaches have done a great job with them."

The Vikings scored on their first drive of the game, when Justin Jackson-Williams found his wideout Shane Smith for the touchdown strike.  Omaha North added two straight touchdowns on the ground, first from Jordan Strong and then from Larry Bell right before the end of the first quarter to take a 21-0 lead.

Grand Island responded with a long touchdown run of its own, with David Garcia finding the end zone on a long run.

Then the Vikings defense got involved. Zion Williams picked off the Islanders' Tyler Kress and took it to pay dirt for the score, which made it 35-7.

Jordan Strong muscled his way into the end zone for another running touchdown right before the half to give Omaha North a 49-7 lead at halftime.  It was a running clock in the second half and the Vikings won big, 56-21 final.
