OSI Game Night: Omaha Westside vs. Omaha Burke

Posted

The OSI Game of the Week certainly lived up to the billing, as No. 6 Omaha Burke outlasted No. 9 Omaha Westside in a 28-21 thriller on Friday night.  Max Herman scored on a short touchdown run in the final minute and a half of the game that proved to be the game winner.

The Bulldogs scored on their very first possession of the game, as Tyler Chadwick connected with Chris Hickman in the end zone to put Burke ahead, 7-0.  Burke controlled the pace much of the first quarter, until Cory Myers intercepted Chadwick and returned it for a touchdown, tying the game at 7-7.

Following a successful onside kick from the Warriors, Cory Myers converted, this time on offense, as he took an end-around in for a touchdown.  Burke answered right before the half, as Chadwick found Josh Baker for a deep touchdown pass to even the score at 14 heading in the locker room.

Westside took the opening kick of the second half deep inside Burke territory, and scored a few plays later, when Myers hit Caleb Schweigart for a touchdown pass to take the lead, 21-14.

Then, with the score tied at 21 all, and under two minutes remaining, Max Herman capped off a comeback win for Burke with a touchdown on the ground, giving the Bulldogs the 28-21 victory.  Burke remains unbeaten, improving to 6-0, while Westside drops its second game this season, falling to 4-2.
