OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) The Creighton Prep football team made it all the way to the state semifinals in Tim Johnk's first year as head coach.
Now, the Junior Jays have their eyes on an even bigger prize in 2018.
"We just got to work hard every day, got to be physical in practice," said senior linebacker Michael Sunclades. "That's what our team is going to live on this year being physical. I think we have the potential to win a ring this year and that's the ultimate goal of the team."
Prep returns five starters on defense and eight on offense, including standout running back Luke Sims.
"With the number of returning starters and the amount of guys we have coming back with all that experience, a lot of those guys obviously played last year," Johnk said. "I think we have a shot to have a pretty successful season."
The Junior Jays open the season against defending Class A champ Omaha North on Thursday August 23.
