ELKHORN (KMTV) — After playing in Class A the past two years, Elkhorn has its sights set on a state title this season in Class B.

"Playing the best athletes in the Omaha area gave us a good gauge of where we are and what we need to do," said head coach Mark Wortman. "So I think we're better off for it. So coming down to Class B, I think it's to our advantage that we played a good tough Class A schedule last year."

The Antlers are ranked #1 in Class B to start the season.

"We think as a team that the playoffs is where we should be," said senior linebacker Drew Christo. "And take that even further and hopefully make it to the state championship."

"There's a lot of great Class B schools," said senior running back Aiden Young. "So our schedule's definitely not easy by any means. But we're excited for our opportunity. We know we have a great chance to make a run in the postseason"

Elkhorn opens the season Friday at home against Norris.
