OMAHA (KMTV) — After making the state semifinals last season, Millard South hopes to take it one step further this year with a trip to the Class A state title game inside Memorial Stadium.
The Patriots return multi-year starter T.J. Urban at quarterback. The dual-threat senior is committed to Air Force.
"His ability to run and throw is a great place to start," said head coach Andy Means. "But we have 13, 14 other starters back too. So this is one of the most experienced teams we've ever had. They were undefeated as freshmen. Undefeated last year as JV so they want a shot at this thing so we're pretty grateful."
The Pats have to replace running back Isaiah Harris, who ended up walking on to the Huskers. Millard South's season came to an end in 2019 against eventual state runner up Omaha Westside in the semifinals.
"They've been itching for this for a long time," Means said. "They weren't very pleased with how it ended like we all weren't. They've come out with a renewed enthusiasm."
The Patriots play Millard North to open the season. They also host defending champ Bellevue West on September 18th.
