OMAHA (KMTV) — Omaha Westside hopes to make a return trip to the Class A state title game in 2020.
"Our juniors were down there last year and now they're seniors," said head coach Brett Froendt. "There's a lot of kids that played on the field last year that are itching to get back."
The Warriors return plenty of talent from their runner up team last year including North Dakota State quarterback commit Cole Payton and four-star Minnesota defensive back commit Avante Dickerson.
"It gives us a lot of confidence and it definitely lights our fire," said Payton. "It definitely makes us get one more rep,one more drill, go harder in the weight room."
"I know confidence is sky high here," said lineman Cade Haberman, who's committed to Northern Illinois. "But just because we have that confidence doesn't mean we're not working. We're still hitting each other hard trying to become prepared for this next year."
Westside safety Koby Bretz also has a handful of Division I offers.
The Warriors host their rival, Creighton Prep, on Thursday August 27 to start the season.
