PAPILLION (KMTV) — After a Cinderella run last season, Papio South volleyball is focused on defending its Class A state title.
"It's still crazy to me that we did that last year," said junior setter Ava LeGrand. "No one thought we were going to do that. I think some of our fans didn't even think we were going to do that."
The Titans started 2019 with a 3-6 record but went on to win the state championship.
"I think they're definitely is pressure because there are a lot of teams out there that want to beat us," said senior Andjelija Petrovic. "But I think what is best for us is to focus on the here and now."
"We can not ride the roller coaster of emotions," said head coach Katie Wright. "We're a high school team and girls tend to ride that a little bit, the ups and downs. We need to continue to learn how to ride that roller coaster a little more steady. If we can do that, I don't think there's anybody that will get in our way. But it's not going to be easy."
Papio South squares off against its crosstown rival Papio on Tuesday night.
