Swim Trials Friday Recap

Posted

Four more events selected their competitors for the Rio Olympics on Friday.  The most anticipated event featured Ryan Lochte going head-to-head with Michael Phelps in the 200 meter individual medley.  Lochte put together the fastest preliminary time, but it was Phelps who won the showdown.  The two swimmers finished one and two and will both be competing in the Olympics.

Lilly King won the 200 meter breaststroke to go with the 100 meter breaststroke she won earlier this week.  Molly Hanish finished second to qualify as well.

In the men's 200 meter backstroke it was Cal teammates Ryan Murphy and Jacob Pebley finishing first and second respectively to lock down spots in Rio.

And, in the women's 100 meter freestyle Amber Weitzel and Simone Manuel punched their tickets to the Olympics.
