LA VISTA, Neb. (KMTV) — If you're looking to relax, unwind and maybe get a new look, Garbo's Salon and Spa is open.
They have five locations in the Omaha area, including their newest salon in La Vista.
"We're excited about this new location and we just wanted them to feel safe when they're here," said owner Amber Meier. "Because it's about self-care too. Clients need to feel good as well as us going back to work. This is what we do for a living so we just wanted to be able be with our clients again."
Here you can get anything from a new hairstyle, massages, facials, skin treatment and more.
Meier says they planned to open the new location in May, but delayed their opening to June 1 due to the pandemic.
Meir says in order to reopen and stay open, they have to follow new protocols.
"We only had a limited staff that could come back with us," Meier said. "We had protective equipment around the reception area. We have health screenings that they had to go through as a staff member and as a client. We all had to wear masks."
"We give ourselves a little bit extra time between clients to clean and disinfect the area before the next client comes in," Meier said.
Temperature checks are also done on customers and staff before entering the salon, and they've slowly started reopening for more services.
"Spa services are now available," Meier said. "We can do walk-ins as well."
Meier says she's hopeful that when the state lessens restrictions, the new spot will be celebrated soon.
"In a way, we didn't get to do a lot of stuff yet, like a grand opening and a big party to let everyone know we're open. But with the new restrictions being lifted that we could have more than a few people in the salon, hospitality wise, we could offer coffee, hopefully in the future as well as beverages so that's what we're looking forward to."
