Raygun offers up equality, progressiveness and a side of humor

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Raygun is a new store that is all about Midwestern humor with a helping of equality.

“Nebraska, you'll probably drive through us sometimes,” reads one of the store’s shirts.

Raygun originated in Iowa in 2005 and has maintained its stores exclusively in the Midwest.

Its sixth location is located at 1108 Jackson St, Omaha, NE 68102 in Omaha’s Old Market.

Owner and founder, Mike Draper said the beginning of Raygun Printing was a bit accidental.

“I started college like a lot of people do, wanting to have a job with a business card that didn't involve me selling t-shirts on the street,” he said. “Then, in my senior of college, I was selling t-shirts on the street — I actually enjoyed it.”

The store is known for its funny, Midwestern and progressive printed items.

“Who would've thought, that by November of 2020, all of America would know where Nebraska’s second congressional district was,” Draper said pointing to a shirt with the district outlined.

“There's always been a progressive slant to it, which can lead to some friction,” said Draper. “You gain a lot of Facebook followers during football and then you lose a lot of them when it's political season and you'll have messages like, ‘I’m never shopping there anymore because of the political stuff you're doing now.’ We're like, ‘How much have you shopped here, because we've always done political stuff,’”

Beyond shirts, the company sells anything that can be printed such as masks, stickers, and even mugs.

Raygun Printing is largest, unionized retail chain in the country.
