OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — If you are looking to do some good in the community, Share Omaha is looking to connect with you.

The Share Omaha website has hundreds of organizations where you can volunteer your time.

“The satisfaction comes from the impact I know we are having, especially in volunteers. We know we are a connection and a conduit for donations and for Amazon wish lists and event publicity, but the most meaningful work I think we have done over the last two years, the things that really make me feel that we are making a difference, is that we are connecting people to give their time to organizations,” said Marjorie Maas, executive director of Share Omaha.

Hours donated, money raised and organizations in need are getting the much-needed assistance that is crucial to keep them going strong.

Share Omaha’s presence in the community came at a time where they were able to do a lot of good during two of the most dramatic events the metro area has seen.

“The two instances that come to mind are the 2019 flooding, we were able to connect hundreds of volunteers to help out with that effort. Then I think about the web traffic we got in April, the beginning of the pandemic, and we had 700 volunteers come to us. An average month for us is 250 volunteers. With COVID-19, people were finding significance in this trial that our country and community is going through,” said Maas.

With a dramatic first two years in operation, Share Omaha is even more hopeful about the people and organizations it can help in the years to come.

To date, Share Omaha has connected with more than 500 nonprofit organizations.
