After weather postponed its final installment of the in-state rivalry series with Creighton, the Nebraska baseball team hits the road for Kansas City to take on the Kansas Jayhawks.

Nebraska (25-15, 7-5 Big Ten) and Kansas (17-22, 3-8 Big 12) will play at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals, as a part of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame Classic at the K. This is the start of a seven-game road trip for the Huskers, the second longest of the season.

Nebraska hasn’t faced off against the Jayhawks since they were members of the Big 12 conference back in 2011. The Jayhawks won two of the three games against the Huskers that season.

Max Knutson will likely get the start on the hill for the Huskers. While Knutson has started just two games this season, he holds an ERA of 7.00 with a record of 0-1 in 14 appearances. Knutson will face off against Kansas’ starting right handed pitcher Hayden Edwards. Edwards has an ERA of 6.17, with a record of 1-0 in 13 appearances.

Nebraska is coming off a weekend series win against Nicholls State, while Kansas is coming off five straight weekend series losses against Samford, Texas, TCU, Baylor and Stanford.

First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. Be sure to tune into AM 590 for the play-by-play action for Wednesday nights game.
