The NCAA has a new face for its Managing Director of Champions and Alliances, including managing Omaha’s own College World Series.
Ron Prettyman is stepping into the new position just months before the tournament in June.
“This is the kingdom of college baseball right here and I love being a part of it especially in this new capacity,” said Prettyman.
He will oversee multiple championships on top of the College World Series.
This year the NCAA announced they will allow alcohol sales inside the stadium, something they hope decreases problems with people bringing their own.
“We have done a lot of research and we really feel this is a response to the fan interest that have been shown and we really feel this will be positive,” said Prettyman.
While the 11 day tournament goes on at TD Ameritrade Park, just down the street the USA Olympic swim trials will also be gong on at the CenturyLink center.
“What a great feather in the cap of the city. Two of the highest profile events in the nation are going to be happening here at the same time,” said Prettyman.
He also said they are working with the city and the USA swimming officials to make sure both events run smoothly, “there are some logistical things that we are interacting with the USA in fact we have a call with them on Friday, and we really feel like it can be a positive partnership.”
The College World Series starts June 18th-29th and the USA Olympic swim trials start June 28th.
