LINCOLN (KMTV) — Nebraska women's basketball assistant Chuck Love has been suspended with pay effective immediately, according to the university. The university did not disclose the reason for the suspension.
Love was not on the bench during the Huskers' game last Thursday at Penn State. Also on Saturday, sophomore Ashley Scoggin had been removed from the team. Scoggin started all 25 games for Nebraska up until last Thursday's game at Penn State when she did not play.
After Sunday's win at home against Minnesota, the Huskers were asked about the past few days. NU head coach Amy Williams wouldn't say if the two decisions were related and also wouldn't say whose decision it was to remove Scoggin from the team.
"I've been really, really proud of the way that this team has just leaned in to each other," Williams said. "And stayed unified and stayed together."
"Coach always says her favorite song is 'Can You Stand the Rain?' and this is definitely a storm for us," said junior guard Sam Haiby. "So I think it's just really important for us to stay together cause we still have huge goals we need to accomplish."
