OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - — As a new school year begins at the University of Nebraska Omaha campus, several programs will help students be successful.
The First Generation Guild is a collaborative effort to support students who are the first in their family to pursue higher education.
According to UNO, 40% of its students are first-generations.
The goal is to help students find a sense of community, feel welcome, provide academic support, as well as support outside the classroom.
The First Generation Guild partners with the Service-Learning Academy and the Office of Civic and Social Responsibility.
