A windy Tuesday, followed by storm chances on Wednesday

Cooler weather returns for Halloween evening

The wind will become breezy overnight, and it stays warm. We only cool off into the mid 60s for Tuesday morning.

The wind gets even stronger Tuesday, at times around 45 mph. This will cause a very high fire danger. Continue to hold off on any outdoor burning or anything that could start a fire. It could spread quickly out of control. Tuesday will also be the warmest day of the week with low to mid 80s, and more clouds than sunshine.

While windy and dry Tuesday, a cold front will move into eastern Nebraska from the west late Tuesday night, and we get a big drop in temperatures early Wednesday morning, going from the 60s/70s, to the upper 50s where we will hold for the rest of the day.

The front will kick off scattered storms Wednesday morning through the afternoon. Some of these storms could become strong midday over southeast Nebraska, southwest Iowa, and northwest Missouri could come with strong wind, pockets of large hail, and heavy rain. But, widespread severe weather is not expected at this time.

More scattered rain will be possible Wednesday evening and at night, and a few pockets of melting snow could mix in with the rain well north of Omaha. No snow accumulations are expected, and this rain would exit before the start of day Thursday.

The cooler weather settles in for Halloween. Thursday starts in the mid 30s, and we only warm up into the mid 50s in the afternoon, but it will be mostly sunny and less windy. It will be chilly for the trick-or-treaters as we cool into the mid 40s by 8 p.m. at night.

Friday looks breezy and a little warmer. Highs will be in the low 60s with a lot of sunshine.

More rain looks to return to the region this weekend. We'll stay mostly cloudy with scattered showers possible Saturday and Sunday, and highs in the low 60s.
