Light Snow Returns Tonight: Here's the Latest Timing

More 50 degree weather ahead

and last updated

Light snow showers will be possible overnight. Most of the snow likely ends before 6 am in Omaha, then for the rest of the area farther south by the Friday morning commute.

This storm system will be fighting some dry air, so snow totals will likely be from 0-1 inches across most of the region, including in Omaha. Areas from northeast Nebraska and across the Missouri River into Monona County have the best chance of getting over an inch of snow. While this won't be a lot of snow, the timing could make for a slower than normal morning commute.

Thursday Snow Map
Forecast snow for Thursday night to Friday morning

We may see a few lingering snow flurries Friday morning. Otherwise, Friday will be the coldest day of the week with highs in the mid 30s and mostly cloudy skies. The best chance for some good sunshine will be late in the day.

We start to warm back up over the weekend with a lot of sunshine, quickly melting any of that snow away.

Saturday starts in the teens with wind chills in the single digits, but we warm into the low 40s with breezy winds and mostly sunny skies. Just watch for that wind chill, which will top out only in the 30s Saturday afternoon.

Sunday will be even warmer as we make another push toward 50 degrees with sunshine. Winds will be a little weaker Sunday, too.

The warm-up doesn't stop there. We keep warming up early next week! Presidents Day will be in the mid 50s with a lot of sunshine.

By the middle of next week, we will be flirting with 60 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday, flowed by slightly cooler air, in the 40s by the end of next week!
