OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert is proposing a new plan for Omaha's waste contract.

According to our partners at the Omaha World-Herald, residents could put unlimited yard waste at the curb on Saturdays for six weeks in the spring and fall under the new plan.

The waste would then be turned into compost.

Additionally, larger households could request three carts instead of two after a 90-day period and would not be charged more.

The program aims to replace waste drop-off sites and would cost between $500 and $600 thousand dollars annually.
