Hundreds of students from Papillion-La Vista lined the parking lot at the high school Friday morning to watch students demonstrate the terrible consequences of being involved in a drunk driving crash.
The high school, along with police, emergency responders and members of the National Safety Council were on hand. With the prom slated for this weekend, school administrators and local leaders wanted to drive home the point that drunk driving can lead to death and injuries.
Students simulated being involved in a two car crash involving alcohol. Police responded. Paramedics took the injured to the hospital. There was even a Chaplain on hand to comfort parents.
Afterwards 3NewsNow Anchor Craig Nigrelli was the guest speaker, delivering a presentation in the school gym. He talked about what news organizations see and show all too often in the news business : young people killed in crashes due to alcohol consumption or distracted driving. In addition, Videographer Jason Boyd captured the sights and sounds of the event.
