Retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Don Bacon has won the Republican nomination in Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District.
PREVIOUS STORY:
Bacon defeated a former Nebraska state senator, Douglas County commissioner Chip Maxwell, on Tuesday in the primary for the Omaha-based district.
Both pitched themselves as strong conservatives and political outsiders, but Bacon received endorsements from prominent Republicans including Gov. Pete Ricketts, former Gov. Kay Orr and U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer.
He also focused heavily on his military and foreign policy experience and promised to be a budget hawk if elected.
Bacon will face first-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Brad Ashford in the November general election.
