Tonight the City of Bellevue cut ties with World Baseball Village.
The council voted to sever its agreement and take over the property south of Offutt Air Force Base.
Tornadoes in June damaged the facility, wiping out a big tournament. The city will have to pay off the outstanding loans. The debt: about $2 and a half million.
Now the question remains: how will Baseball Village refund teams that did not get to play in the June tournament, yet put down thousands of dollars.
"The council spoke loud and clear tonight cut our losses without any discussion so there's a definite separation there. So we'll see what the World Baseball Village and the business side of that will do with their customers and their parents and the teams that were there" said Mayor Rita Sanders.
Others believe the cancelled event and failure of the World Baseball Village has damaged the city's image.
