A judge lowered the bond for an Omaha man accused of hitting a woman inside a church in August.
Wayman Clark appeared in court Monday where his bond was reduced to $250,000. Clark is accused of punching a woman as another man stole her purse inside Saint Cecilia’s Church, near 40th and Burt streets.
Clark’s attorney, Mike Poepsel, says his client hopes to post his bond to attend the funeral of his child.
“He’s very, very depressed. It’s terrible enough to have one of your children die, let alone a 1-year-old, and especially when you’re in jail when it happens. So it has been very tough on him,” said Poepsel.
He called the original bond “too high” for the circumstances of the case. The case moves to district court.
