Brandon Straka, Omaha man arrested in connection to Capitol riots

WASHINGTON (KMTV) — Agents from the FBI Omaha Field Office arrested an Omaha man on Monday in connection to riots at the Capitol building in Washington D.C. earlier this month.

The FBI says Brandon Straka was charged with:

  • Impeding an law enforcement officer during civil disorder
  • Knowingly entering and remaining on restricted grounds without lawful authority and/or engaging in disorderly conduct within proximity to a restricted building to impede official functions
  • Engaging in disorderly conduct with intent to disturb a hearing before Congress

Straka is currently in federal custody. His initial appearance in federal court will be January 26.

Straka is well known in conservative circles. He founded the group WalkAway which encourages Democrats to leave their party. He has more than 350,000 followers on his Facebook page and has been a speaker at many conservative events across the country.
