COVID-19 cases among NCDS employees reach 424

Cases at Tecumseh and Omaha facilities
Amid spiking COVID-19 infections, prisons turning to solitary confinement to reduce spread of virus

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NCDS) Director Scott R. Frakes announced 15 cases of COVID-19 among staff members for a total of 424 to date.

The infected staff members are employed at:

  • Tecumseh State Correctional Institution - 11
  • Omaha Correctional Center - 2
  • Diagnostic and Evaluation Center - 1
  • Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility 1

All the employees are self-isolating at home and notifications will be given to those who live and work in close-contact situations where they’re employed.

NCDS said 377 of the 424 who have been infected have recovered.
