OMAHA, Neb. - Police are trying to determine what lead up to a deadly fiery crash in west Omaha.
It happened near 114th and Shirley around 1:40 on Monday morning.
Officers tell Action 3 News it appears the driver hit several mail boxes, parked cars and eventually hit a tree head.
"The homeowner where the collision occurred did call 911. They did hear a noise that prompted them to look outside and ultimately go outside. They took some measures to put flames that were on the car," says Sergeant Chuck Cassey, Omaha Police.
The name of the driver has not been released. Right now, it is unclear if alcohol was involved.
"Leading up to this collision there was a four block span of several objects that got hit, multiple mailboxes at least one car that was parked. The vehicle drove off so that type of driving behavior is not normal, we are trying to figure out what lead up to that," says Cassey.
The area near 114th and Shirley was shut down for most of the morning as crews investigated. It is now reopen.
