OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Saturday night, students with special needs got to get down and boogie at Alice Buffett Middle School.
Andrew Philson started the prom years ago. He says he got the idea when his two sisters who have special needs were starting high school.
Philson says he and his parents wanted to give students like them their own event because he saw that some students were left out.
"I noticed a lot of my high school classmates that were handicapped didn't participate in football, basketball games or prom, so I wanted to establish something for when they were students," Andrew said.
This is the last year the Philsons are putting on the event, but they are looking for others to help it continue for future students.
