Eppley Airfield is a major transportation center for the Omaha metro. It handles about 75 flights a day.
Each year, over 4 million passengers, and 93 million pounds of cargo, pass through the airport.
And every year, severe weather, can threaten the safety of the planes, and the lives on board.
Eppley’s operations center has an experienced team, which works hard, to keep the airport open, and safe for aircraft.
But when weather conditions get too rough, they can also make the call to close the airport.
In this special report, Meteorologist matt Monroe, takes us inside the operations center, and discovers how weather related decisions are made at Eppley Airfield.
