Omaha drivers saw icy roads and high-winds on their early commutes Thursday.
Wind gusts were up to 40 miles per hour and after a freezing drizzle the roads were so icy that Omaha Police advised no unnecessary travel at around 3 a.m.
Freezing rain is currently creating dangerous driving conditions in the Omaha area. Please avoid travel. If you must travel, use extreme caution. #OPD via @ [contributor]

Omaha Police Dept tweeted at 8:55 a.m. that they would no longer be responding to non-injury accidents.
Many schools and businesses are closed for the day due to the weather and its impact on the roadways.
