Fallen Officer Kerrie Orozco received a special honor for her service nearly one year after she was killed in the line of duty.

Her name will be among five honored this year at a ceremony in Central Nebraska.

Police Chief Todd Schmaderer also joined governor Pete Ricketts at the ceremony.
On May 20th. 2015, Officer Orozco was shot and killed by a wanted fugitive near 30th and Martin.
Later this week, 100-members of the Omaha-based first responders foundation will take the "Kerrie on" legacy to the nations capitol to encourage. Americans to "support blue."
The group will attend the may 12-15 events in Washington D.C. during national law enforcement officers' week.
