OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) -- — An Omaha area funeral director is going to New York City to help others make arrangements to bury or cremate those who have died during the pandemic.
Corey Starr is the Funeral Director at Neptune Cremation Service - Omaha.
He is on his way to Queens to help funeral directors overwhelmed with the number of recent deaths. More than 10,000 people have died from the Coronavirus in New York state.
Starr will be filing paperwork, logging belongings, and other administration duties. He says he saw people that needed help and wanted to take action.
“I can’t imagine it’s going to be a walk in the park by any means. There will be a lot of families from what I understand that are needing guidance and needing help and I’m just going to try to make sure the funeral directors are free to give them as much as they can,” Starr explained.
Starr says he’ll leave New York to come back to Omaha on April 24. Then he’ll self quarantine for 14 days.
