Omaha Police officers found a man that was wanted for robbing a Douglas Credit Union on Wednesday.
Officials said at around 2:35 pm, Wednesday afternoon their were dispatched to the 8200 block of West Center, Omaha Douglas Credit Union, for an attempted bank robbery.
Officers made contact with witness that stated a black male, 6’, 240lbs, wearing shorts and a black cut off shirt, entered the building and demanded all the money.
The suspect cursed at the tellers and fled the building. The suspect was last seen on foot heading eastbound from that location. The suspect did not get any money.
Later that night, an Omaha Firefighter contacted OPD after he watched the news and recognized the suspect as an individual that they had just treated on a medical run for an injured hand.
OPD officers attempted to locate the suspect at the address of the rescue call, but were unable to locate him.
On Thursday morning, officers were contacted by an off-duty OPD Officer who said that the suspect was being treated at an area hospital for a hand injury.
The suspect was then arrested.
After the suspect was treated and released from the hospital, he was transported to Central Police Headquarters for questioning.
The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Nicholas Blair.
