Following some heavy rain Tuesday morning, Westbound near 216th and Maple Street as well as Heritage Nursery saw major flooding.
At around 8:45 a.m., police shut down the area and encouraged the use of alternate routes.
Police had to close the westbound lanes and one eastbound lane for hours Tuesday morning on West Maple Rd. between Ramblewood Dr. and 216th Street. They said the heavy rains caused the creek to surge more than once, even after the rain stopped, which moved onto the road.
Residents say they have seen smaller flooding before but nothing like this. Some say it was getting close to their backyard and worried more rain could bring it back up.
