OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) -- Kayli Ana Taylor spent her Easter morning serving patrons at Old Chicago Pizza. She worked alongside many other volunteers who helped put on the 18th Spring Gathering event at the Old Market restaurant, to serve Easter meals for families in need.
"I like to talk to the people and get to know how they're doing," Taylor said.
People were not just simply given a meal, but were served like guests. Taylor said her mother works at Old Chicago and it has become a family tradition to volunteer on Easter morning.
"I just enjoy doing it every year and helping out," Taylor said.
Craftworks foundation works with Old Chicago restaurants to provide the food and gifts for families.
"Having friends and family, we have those on the side. These are our friends and family on Easter, and we can provide that smile and that extra comfort to them on this day,” said Scott Parrill, the regional manager for Old Chicago. “It's an awesome feeling. "
Many guests, like Patricia Ratliff, have attended the Easter meal for many years.
”They’re so nice, and the foods good, and they treat people really nice," Ratliff said.
Mothers like Martina Casillias Torres were extremely thankful for this years Easter meal, after she broke her collarbone and was struggling to make ends meet.
"It means alot, cause I love my children dearly, and Old Chicago has been a great part of my life," Casillias Torres said.
