Fremont woman makes heart pillows for cancer patients

Posted

The hum of a sewing machine fills the room at a Fremont senior living center as Evelyn Carle is sitting behind, busy making one of 200 heart shaped pillows she sews a year.

These are no ordinary pillows either, they are designed to help relieve the discomfort cancer patients feel after mastectomies and other surgeries. They also serve as a reminder that when you are fighting cancer, someone always cares.

"The thank you notes, I save them for a long time," Evelyn Carle said. "That makes you want to do more."
