OPPD officials reported about 1037 customers in Douglas County were without power Friday evening.
Parts of Downtown Omaha was included in this outage.
According to OPPD, their crews responded to an underground vault fire at around 5:44 p.m.
The fire originated west of 24th and Harney Streets.
Officials added that the fire was put out by the Omaha FD after 7:30 p.m
OPPD officials added that once their crews can assess the damage, they will work to get power restored to the customers.
Officials say the outage is mostly just east of Interstate 480, from about 34th Street to 18th Street and from Burt to Pacific streets.
