As Omaha pushes west, Papillion also wants to increase its share of land.

The city released an annexation plan Wednesday that would add about 750 people by annexing an SID near 72nd and Cornhusker. The proposed plan would make the new Facebook Data Center on 144th and Capehart part of Papillion.

City spokesperson Trenton Alberts says this plan not only allows the city to annex residential areas on the eastern portion of Papillion, but it also makes financial sense.

The proposed plan is part of Papillion's extended city limits and the extra territorial zoning jurisdiction and Albertssaid the plan is not a reaction to Gretna's annexation, it's something the city has been working on for a long time.

Officials say neither Gretna, nor Papillion's annexation proposals are threat to the boundary agreements between the two cities.
