Students in Plattsmouth Community Schools will not be in class today after school leaders discovered a threat on social media yesterday.

The superintendent told parents are 11:30 p.m. that all schools in the district would be closed Wednesday after they received a threat there would be a shooting at Plattsmouth Community Middle School.

The district also posted this message on Facebook:

"Good evening. This is a message from the Plattsmouth Community Schools. Please read this carefully. It was reported that someone posted a threat on social media about a shooting that will take place at Plattsmouth Middle School, on Wed, Oct. 4, 2017. Based on information that was obtained from local law enforcement, a short time ago, this appears to be a credible threat. Local law enforcement made contact with one, but not all, of the potential suspects. ALL PLATTSMOUTH COMMUNITY SCHOOLS WILL BE CLOSED, ON WED., OCT. 4, 2017, as we continue to investigate the situation. We take these threats very seriously. Please plan accordingly, as we strive to maintain the safety of our students and staff members. Thank you."
