Police have released the identity of a stolen car suspect who tried to flee police, but crashed in west Omaha Wednesday.
Investigators say Kenneth Thompson, 33, was taken into custody after officers used stopsticks to disable his vehicle near 132nd Street and West Dodge Road.
Thomspon continued to try to get away after ditching the vehicle by attempting to carjack nearby drivers, police said.
According to police reports, officers talked to one person who said Thompson opened his driver's door, but he pushed on the gas to get away and hit the vehicle in front of him.
Police say they tried to pull Thompson over for a traffic stop near 30th and Ohio streets, but when he kept on driving, they used the police helicopter to track him through all four precincts of the city.
