Robbery suspect bonded out after arrest...

The suspect in a weekend robbery spree is behind bars again.  Officers booked 26-year-old Andre Hollingsworth for robbery on Monday.

Police believe held up three Omaha gas stations on Friday and Saturday.

Hollingsworth bonded out of jail in December, and at that time, was in custody for a weapons charge.  Investigators believe he was an accomplice in a robbery spree, they say, Devante Croffer, 19, carried out in late October and November.

In total, they’re accused of committing 17 holdups in the metro.

Omaha Police Officer’s Union President, Sgt. John Wells is concerned over how Hollingsworth was allowed to get out in the first place.

"Being fingered as an accomplice to somebody who's booked on 12 different robberies and then subsequently finding the person to be illegally possessing a gun, and lowering their bond so they can get out. I don't know that that's appropriate,” Sgt. Wells explained.

KMTV Action 3 News reviewed court documents to find out how it happened.     A search warrant says Croffer told investigators after being arrested in November that Hollingsworth put him up to it, drove him to the stores, and gave him $100 from each "lick" while keeping the rest for himself.  A search of Hollingsworth's home, stemming from Croffer's arrest, lands him in jail for possession of a stolen firearm.

His bond is initially set at 10% of $50,000 in November, but Douglas County Court Judge Marcena Hendrix reduces it to 10% of $20,000 in December.  Hollingsworth bonds out, and allegedly holds up the latest three.

Sergeant Wells wonders if Hollingsworth used the stolen money to bond out in the first place.

"It's very concerning because it goes back to the whole pattern of what are we really doing to fight crime in this town? And not just the police but the other entities, again judges in the courts are part of that," Sgt. Wells described.
Hollingsworth was convicted of a felony as a juvenile, but that doesn't count towards his criminal record so he isn't considered a felon.  He's got a previous weapons conviction.

Both men have also been charged in a November bank robbery in Fort Calhoun.

Croffer’s bond is set at $175,000, while Hollingsworth has not had a bond hearing yet.  Both are being held at the Douglas County Jail.
