OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Nine citations were dropped and animals that were seized will be returned to Scatter Joy Acres after the establishment was declared a zoo.
Nine animals were seized from Scatter Joy Acres on August 24 over disagreements if the property was violating city ordinances by keeping non-domestic animals.
Scatter Joy Acres contended they were a non-profit petting zoo but the Nebraska Humane Society disagreed.
City Prosecutor Matt Kuhse confirmed to 3 News Now that Scatter Joy Acres does hold proper permits from USDA and Nebraska Games and Parks to operate as a zoo. Kuhse said enforcement will be left up to the USDA.
Some parents protested after the animals were seized, saying their kids missed the animals.
Scatter Joy Acres said in a statement that the animals will be returned soon.
