Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to roll through the Omaha metro Tuesday.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma says significant severe thunderstorms will be possible across parts of the southern and central Great Plains Tuesday afternoon into the evening which could bring very large hail, damaging winds, and possibly some strong tornadoes. The SPC says the Omaha metro is in the slight risk, with the moderate and enhanced risk areas just off to the south and west of the metro.
KMTV Action 3 News Weather Alert Team meteorologist Jennifer Zeppelin says numerous severe storms are expected to develop in an area near Lincoln and south of the Interstate 80 corridor. Those storms could deliver tornadoes, hail up to baseball size, and strong winds. The storms are expected to arrive in the early evening hours, and the system will be a slow mover, with showers and storms expected to carry on into the overnight hours.
