Omaha Police say a newborn infant found outside an apartment building early Friday morning was thrown from a second floor window.
Police say the infant's 16 year old mother was home alone in her bedroom in her apartment near 25th and Izard Court when she gave birth to the premature baby early Friday morning. After the infant was born, the teen mother threw the infant out of the window, and then told her mother what happened. The teen's mother went outside and found the infant laying on the grass, called 911 and performed CPR until Omaha Fire paramedics arrived. The baby was taken to CHI Creighton where it was pronounced dead. The teen mother was also taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.
Police say the investigation is in the early stages and autopsy results are not expected for several days. The Douglas County Attorney has been informed about the investigation, and charges are pending following the outcome of the autopsy and investigation.
