A homeowner in NW Omaha caught a would-be thief trying to break into his car. Security footage shows several people walking along the street and then try and check his car door. The car was luckily locked, but the homeowner says there have been reports of others being unlocked and items being stolen from cars.

In the video, three people were seen walking up the street  in the Walnut Ridge neighborhood, you see one of the approach a truck, try the handle, and run off when it doesn’t open.

“My vehicle has been hit twice,” said homeowner Lee Noteman. It was his cameras that got the would-be thieves targeting his area.

“We are on the website and everyone is saying, my gosh my door was open and I am missing something this morning did anyone see anything,” he said.

Noteman said  unfortunately he left his truck unlocked once and found it a mess the next morning.
“I think they are going neighborhood to neighborhood or going so many blocks at a time.”

He did install a security system when some of the crime in the area started to increase. He said the cameras have helped, but it doesn’t seem to stop them.

“You really got to make sure things are locked up and shut down before you go to bed,” he added.

Noteman did say the video he got was given to police, he hopes it will help catch whoever is doing this.
