Candidates for U.S. Senate discussed their views on gun control and school shootings in the United States at a debate at the Nebraska State Fair.

Senator Fischer said the root of the problem is that people who should not have guns, terrorists and those with mental health issues, are committing most of the mass shootings in the United States.

Democratic challenger Jane Raybould said if elected she will do everything she can to protect children and families, saying she will help ban bump stocks and enhance background checks. Raybould touted helping add school resource officers and banning bump stocks in Lincoln as a city councilwoman.
