Starbucks issues recall of stainless steel straws

Starbucks on Tuesday issued a massive recall, citing stainless steel straws that could cause cuts inside the mouth.

According to CNBC and other sources, the company recalled more than 2.5 million packs of the straws -- sold in packs of three for $6 each -- after four young children apparently suffered mouth lacerations.

The straws, intended for use with two sizes of the company’s stainless steel cups, were sold nationwide and in Canada between June 2012 and June 2016.

In a statement, the company said the straws are rigid and pose a risk of injury, noting that consumers should not allow children to use them.

Those who have purchased the straws can contact Starbucks at 800-782-7282 or visit the company site for more information.
