PayPal workshop helps small businesses grow

Posted

Reclaimed Enterprises owner Jason Gilbreath thought they were doing everything right.

“We are probably the best company doing what we do that nobody knows about,” Gilbreath said.

They have six employees, in a store front downtown, with a presence online showing off their creations made from reclaimed materials.

But still, he said, people tell him they are Omaha's best kept secret.

He went to this PayPal session for small businesses in hopes of improving his marketing. PayPal held informational sessions around the country, including at Do Space in Omaha, in conjunction with Small Business Month in May.

Entrepreneurs like Gilbreath sat in on sessions about being more visible online by claiming your business on Google, and using keywords in your website.

“I need to focus more on doing this type of thing,” Gilbreath said.  “And let some of the other employees handle the day to day operations of the business.”

PayPal Spokesman Joseph Gallo said small businesses like these have a huge impact on the country.  More than 60-percent of new jobs are created by small businesses.

“As small businesses grow, we grow and the national economy grows,” Gallo said.

And perhaps secrets like Reclaimed Enterprises will be shared.
